Living in San Gerardo de Rivas, Costa Rica is truly an amazing experience. One of the biggest perks of living in the town has to be the outdoor activities in nature. Costa Rica has so much to offer when it comes to wildlife and scenic hikes. And one of the best local places to go hike is Cloudbridge Nature Reserve.
Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is a private reserve located within the Talamanca mountains. Cloudbridge’s mission is to conserve and protect Costa Rica’s environment. Their mission is “dedicated to the conservation and reforestation of the cloudforest”. With approximately 700 acres of primary forest and cattle pasture, it is the perfect place to hike and experience the Costa Rican environment.
Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is located directly next to Cerro Chirripó, which is one of the tallest mountains in Central America. However Cloudbridge offers a much more relaxed and leisurely hike. I recommend hiking here first as a “warm-up” for Cerro Chirripó. If you are interested in hiking Cerro Chirripó and want to learn more, you can read about my experience here. Or learn about how you can register to hike Cerro Chirripó.
Cloudbridge offers a plethora natural attractions like waterfalls, rivers, forests and wildlife. And the best part of Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is that it has hikes for all levels of hikers, from beginner to intermediate. The reserve has various different paths you can take ranging in difficulty.
